My goal is to help you tell your story in the most compelling way you can—while maintaining your unique voice. I love editing popular genre fiction (particularly gay romance of all varieties) and memoir, and I’m also interested in editing other types of books and materials.
Whether you’re planning to self-publish or you’re trying to get an agent or a publisher, I can help ensure your words look professional (proper spelling, punctuation, grammar, and usage) and your story flows (dialogue sounds natural, timelines make sense, characters are engaging, plot lines are resolved, and so on). In editor-speak, my skills include substantive editing, content editing, line editing, polishing, copyediting, and proofreading.
New: I now offer manuscript evaluations. I’ll read your full manuscript and send you an editorial letter commenting (and offering guidance) on elements like point of view, plot, structure, characterization, and much more. By addressing big-picture issues early in the editing process, you end up with a stronger manuscript more quickly and at a lower cost.
For authors who aren’t U.S.-based, I’ll flag usage that may read awkwardly to American readers—or I’m happy to edit to British or Canadian English if that’s appropriate for the characters.
I enjoy working with both new and experienced authors. I want to help you learn so your next story will be even better . . . and I want us both to have fun along the way.
If this sounds like what you’re looking for, please contact me for more information or to discuss rates and availability. (For some general guidelines on editorial rates, see the EFA’s rates page.) I’m happy to provide a brief sample edit so we can confirm we’re a good fit before moving forward.
